Prince Albert is the King and Queen’s first born. He will be king. But his own ambitions couldn’t be further from this truth. He wants to be a fashion designer, he wants to wear women’s clothes, and he wants to openly love Promiscuous.
Having both met under their disguises, Promiscuous does not know he is in love with Prince Albert, but a transvestite named Jackpot Joy. Prince Albert’s younger sister: Princess Harriet has managed to keep his secret for as long as she can remember, but with an anti-monarchy revolution on the horizon, being stuck between loyalty and tradition is a tricky situation to navigate. The king and queen do everything in their power to revitalize the monarchy. There needs to be a marriage, and there needs to be little darlings for the public to coo over. This can only be made possible if Prince Albert finds a traditional lover. Someone whom lives up to all the expectations of a traditional monarch. Someone pretty and perfect.
The UK still has a monarchy, and they remain traditional in every sense of the word. They live off taxpayers money while many in society live in poverty with a reliance on food banks. This fictional musical playwright questions the reality of a monarchy in modern Britain. When will the reign end? and how often do monarchs have to pretend to be that which they are not in order to pursue their birth right? The subjects addressed within the playwright may not sit comfortably with some, but it attempts to transcend a time (which we may still be living in) were any grievance of the monarchs existence is hushed up, and hidden behind the agenda-driven medias long-lived patriotism to them.Looking For:
I still need to polish the script up, but thereafter I will be looking to collaborate with musicians/singer-songwriters, that can make the show come alive. I have written a few songs already, but I have zero musical talent, and a fish under water could hold a better tune. So I really need the efforts of tuneful people.
I am also looking for anyone else who might want to contribute: producers, directors, costume and make-up artists etc...
Anyone working on the script must be open minded to the themes contained within. The script is not only critical of monarchies, but of western warfare. The overall feeling of the production is joyful and a little comical.
I've created a global group at: https://www.scriptforward.com/groups/jack-pot-joy
Eventually I want to raise enough money to fund many productions of the show across the world. So if you are interested, and do not reside anywhere near Edinburgh (Scotland), you may be interested in producing/getting involved in a show near where you are. I'm getting ahead of myself though. At the very least you may wish to join the group to stay up to date on my progress.Audience: PGCondition: 1st DraftPages: 117Budget: Medium (<£500K)Category: Musical PlaywrightGenre: Political
