Detective Briggs is drowned in the pool of his gated complex. While all suspicions fall on Nick; his partner in crime busting, Donna knows the truth. It appears she received Briggs heart. The only problem is, she’s trying to convince others of paranormal memories. And to compound a difficult situation, she is also a prisoner. Not a women that can be trusted on your average day, let alone with a murder investigation so close to so many hearts. However, when you’re about to be charged with murdering a police officer, you grab at any straw. So as Nick navigates the social reality of being the prime suspect among his own colleagues, and Katey; his new partner that he has far too much history with, he encourages Donna to divulge what she knows. It’s broken pieces of a complex jigsaw, but as the pieces are put together, more than just a murder suspect is revealed. Brigg’s heart holds many secrets and Donna is the key to unlocking them.
Inspiration: It's a well established fact that hearts (and other organs) store memories. After transplants, people have become musicians, artists, mathematicians etc...So what would happen if a great detective's heart was given to an unreliable witness? The receiver would have access to fragmented knowledge and emotions belonging to the diseased.
